Norm Rice
Norm Rice, former mayor of Seattle, is currently the president and CEO of the Seattle Foundation. Rice graduated from Highline in the class of 1969, and his time here helped him focus on a career goal and propel him into a future as a city council man, Mayor of Seattle (1990-97), CEO of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle and a renowned philanthropist.
Rice has been supportive of Highline, serving as the 1982 commencement speaker. Rice has become an honored politician, successful businessman and a cherished part of the community. He serves on the boards of numerous organizations including the Northwest African-American Musem, King County Committee to End Homelessness and HistoryLink. In addition to his degree from Highline, Rice holds a Bachelor of Arts in communications and a Master of Arts in public administration from the University of Washington.
