April 15: Highline MaST Center Roadway and Pier Clear Event

Volunteers and Certified Divers needed to clean the Redondo Beach Waterfront both above and below the water’s surface.

April 15: State Science Olympiad

Highline College is hosting the Washington State Science Olympiad. Science Olympiad is a national organization that provides teams of middle school and high school students the opportunity to compete in “events” pertaining to various scientific disciplines, including earth science, biology, chemistry, physics and engineering. We are expecting about 800 young scientists who will be competing in 50 different events. We need lots of volunteers! Sign up here.

April 22: Des Moines Creek Wildlife Habitat Restoration

Join the Friends of Des Moines Creek for an Earth Day volunteer project of removing invasive weeds in effort to restore and protect an important community wildlife habitat.

Where: Des Moines Creek trailhead, Des Moines Beach Park (meet in north parking lot, over the car bridge, at the circular driveway)

April 25: Fill the Basket for Women’s Services

The Alumni Association is collecting items for an "Alumni Graduation Survival Kit" themed basket to be raffled off at the 35th Annual Women’s Programs Celebration on May 10th. Volunteers are needed to collect donations and to put the basket together. Needing items such as: gift certificates, chocolate, water bottles, coffee mug, box of thank you cards, etc.

Where: Drop off items in the Foundation Office, upstairs Building 99

April 30: Community Garden Work Party, Federal Way Senior Center

Join us as we revitalize the Community Garden at the Federal Way Senior Center. The produce grown in the garden helps feed seniors in SHAG housing in Federal Way. Children are welcome, please bring gloves and hand tools and be ready to get dirty!

May 6: Unified Sports, Soccer League Event

Unified Soccer is a Special Olympics sponsored activity. All teams are made up of players with and without disabilities. Volunteers are needed to help with the setup of the soccer field, score keeping, and possibly refereeing.

May 20: Y.E.L.L. Summit (Young Educated Ladies Leading)

Y.E.L.L. is an all-day event focused on empowering and motivating young women of color to excel in academics and to accept nothing less than excellence from self.

Where: Highline College Campus, Student Union Building
When: Saturday, May 20th, volunteer shifts available all day

June 8: Jurors needed for Mock Trial (Highline College Paralegal Program)

Students completing the Paralegal Program participate in a “mock trial” which will be presided over by King County Superior Court Judge Chad Allred. Volunteers will participate in trial, jury deliberations, and verdict.
